Follow our guide to learn about the different ways on how to remove eyelash extensions safely.
1. Visit a Lash Technician
A professional eyelash technician will know how to remove eyelash extensions in the safest way possible. They will know how to remove the singular extensions in the best way possible and have access to all the right products needed to complete the job. If you can, try and visit the same lash specialist that applied your lashes, since they know which products and techniques they used.
2. Use an Eyelash Remover
If for some reason you cannot visit a professional, an at home lash remover could provide a suitable solution.
Here’s how to remove eyelash extensions at home. Removal products are usually quite effective and straightforward to use, but make sure that you take caution because your eyelids are very sensitive. Simply apply the solution to a q-tip or cotton pad and hold it against the eyelash glue for a few minutes. Make sure you do this with your eyes closed, rinsing off the excess solution with water before reopening your eyes again.
3. Olive Oil
Oils and eyelash extensions do not mix well. Oils affect the glue which is used to attach the extensions, which reduces longevity and causes them to fall out early. For this reason, olive oil works great if you are looking for ways on how to remove eyelash extensions at home but of course, avoid them if you’re trying to encourage longevity.
Before applying the oil, expose the binding glue to steam. An easy way to feel steam is in the shower. However, you can also fill a bowl with hot water, cover your head with a towel, and trap the steam. Keep a safe distance from the bowl and do this for about 10 minutes.
After you steam, soak a cotton pad with olive oil and apply to your lash extensions for 3 minutes. Remember to keep your eyes closed during this process. Once completed, use an olive oil-soaked q-tip to brush away from the lid, this will ease the extension off your lash.
4. Coconut Oil
Like olive oil, coconut oil is also a natural product you can use for the removal of eyelash extensions.
The process is easy and involves holding a coconut oil soaked cotton pad on the eyelash glue for 3 minutes while keeping the eyes closed. Then, use a coconut oil soaked q-tip to brush along the length of the eyelashes downward (away from the lid) to ease the extensions away from your lashes.

While all of the product based removal options are inexpensive, the process takes longer. Using oil-based products can also cause reactions to the skin.
